SHIROBASTI – शिरोबस्ती

Shiro Basti is a therapeutic procedure in Ayurveda that falls under the category of Murdhini Taila. This is a procedure in which a belt is fastened around the head covering the portion of the forehead so a well like formation takes place over the head. This well is then filled with using medicated oil or herbal decoction and kept for some time.

The procedure of Shirobasti:

Shodhana: The patient is initially prepared for treatment by administering vamanaadi shodhana.

Patient is subjected to snehana and swedana.

Patient is made to sit comfortably on a knee-height chair.

Characteristics of Shiro Basti cap:

 It is made up of cow or buffalo’s skin/ rexine. Height – 12 angula. Width – corresponds to the circumference of the patient’s head. Masha Kalka is prepared using sukhoshna jala. A long cloth strap, of the width of 3 angula (in commentary) smeared with the paste of Masha kalka is tied around the head along the margin of hair. The cap of the leather strap is fixed around the head’s lower end reaching up to the ears. A cloth strap smeared with Masha kalka is wrapped above the lower border of the cap again. The borders of the cap are again smeared with the Masha kalka to prevent leaking. According to Vyadhi, Sneha should be selected and used in sukhoshna. Lukewarm medicated oil is poured, up to the height of 1 or 2 angula

Paschat karma: After Shiro Basti, massage should be done in shoulder, head and neck. Seven days shall be the maximum period.

Duration of Shirobasti:

Matrakala:

·         Vata: 10,000 matrakala

·         Pitta: 8000 matrakala= 2 hours and 13 minutes

·         Kapha: 6000 matrakala= 1 hour and 40 minutes

·         Swastha: 1000 matrakala= 16 minutes and 40 seconds

One mātra is roughly equivalent to the time it takes to blink once or say a short syllable. Traditionally, 1 mātra ≈ 1 second (though some texts equate it to slightly less).So, 10000 mātra ≈ 10000 seconds. Convert to minutes:10000÷60=166.6610000 \div 60 = 166.66 minutes. That’s approximately 2 hours and 47 minutes

ಇದು ದೇಹ ಮತ್ತು ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಆಳವಾದ ವಿಶ್ರಾಂತಿ ನೀಡುವ, ಆಯುರ್ವೇದದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿ ವಿಧಾನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾಗಿದೆ.

ಶಿರೋಬಸ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಬಳಸುವ ರೋಗಗಳು:

🧠 ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ನರಮಂಡಲ ಸಂಬಂಧಿತ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳು:

  • ತೀವ್ರ ತಲೆನೋವು (ಮೈಗ್ರೇನ್)
  • ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಒತ್ತಡ ಮತ್ತು ಆತಂಕ
  • ನಿದ್ರೆ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ (ಅನಿದ್ರೆ)
  • ನರದೌರ್ಬಲ್ಯ (Neurological weakness)
  • ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಅಶಾಂತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಅಸ್ಥಿರತೆ

👂 ಕಿವಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕಣ್ಣು ಸಂಬಂಧಿತ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳು:

  • ಟಿನಿಟಸ್ (ಕಿವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶಬ್ದ ಕೇಳಿಸುವಿಕೆ – ಬೀಳುವ, ಗುಗುಳುವ ಶಬ್ದ)
  • ದೃಷ್ಟಿ ಕ್ಷೀಣತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳ ಒತ್ತಡ

💇 ತಲೆಚರ್ಮ ಮತ್ತು ಕೂದಲು ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳು:

  • ಕೂದಲು ಉದುರುವಿಕೆ
  • ತಲೆಚರ್ಮದ ಒರಟುತನ, ಉರಿ

ಈ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯು ಆಯುರ್ವೇದದ ಪಂಚಕರ್ಮದ ನಂತರ ಅಥವಾ ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರವಾಗಿ ಕೂಡ ಮಾಡಬಹುದು. ಇದನ್ನು ಆರೋಗ್ಯವಂತರು ಕೂಡ ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಅಥವಾ ಎರಡು ಬಾರಿ ಮಾಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು, ದೇಹ-ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ವಿಶ್ರಾಂತಿ ನೀಡಲು.
